About Dr Raviv

Dan Raviv was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. He arrived to the USA as a teenager with his family which settled in New York City. Dr Raviv attended the City College of New York where he received his BA in Psychology and continued his education at New York University where he earned his MA and PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling. While attending New York University, Dr Raviv also attended the American Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (AIPP), a training institute that utilized an eclectic approach to the study of psychotherapy. That approach allowed Dr Raviv to experiment with numerous techniques of treatment. As a result Dr Raviv developed his own unique style which combines various psychotherapy schools of thought with his personality style. Dr Raviv is a warm, patient and highly tolerant person who can stay focused when a great deal of pain is in the room. He enjoys people and loves to hear about their background and culture.

Dr Raviv has presented workshops in the annual conferences of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society and the Israeli Group Psychotherapy Association. In addition, Dr Raviv has trained and supervised mental health professionals for over 35 years.

In his leisure time Dr Raviv is most happy when he meets with close friends and family for good food and conversation. He is an avid reader of original Israeli literature and enjoys the theatre and movies. He also likes to travel and visits Israel often to stay in touch with his roots.
